Winter was in the air on Saturday, January 13th, but that didn't prevent DSmithImages Wedding Photography, Portraits, and Events from photographing a beautiful wedding ceremony at Christ Church in Odenville, Alabama. Elise and Neil made up the happy couple for the day, and you might remember seeing the photographs from their engagement session along with their wedding sneak preview on this site. If you enjoyed seeing those photos, you are in for a treat because it is now time to present all the great details from their big day!
Christ Church in Odenville was such a lovely spot for this ceremony, especially in relation to the time of the year. The little white church building and minimalist interior added to the atmosphere and feeling of the crisp and cool winter's day in Alabama. It also provided an abundance of natural light in the interior while the backdrop of the church made for a lovely bit of decoration when we did the first reveal and wedding party photos outside. I do also want to brag on the Heritage House, a location about a half a mile down the road from Christ Church, as well. Elise and her bridesmaids got ready at that location before we all moved back over to the church, and it too as a lovely spot for those "getting ready" photographs. Dearly Beloved & Co. provided the beautiful hair and makeup work for the day.
Elise's dress was beautiful and fit right in with the winter setting of the wedding. It featured a nice balance of detail that really stood out and popped throughout the day. Her bouquet featured strong red roses, which, again, stood out in the winter setting. To match the lush red tones of the roses, Elise's bridesmaids wore beautiful red dresses. The color and design choices of the wedding were top notch and aces in relation to the time of the year.
As mentioned, Elise and Neil opted to do a first reveal and look before the ceremony. With the church in the background, Elise and Neil saw and exchanged gifts with each other. Neil was presented a nice watch by Elise, while Elise was presented a very lovely bible. If you are a couple planning your wedding, I can't recommend enough doing a first reveal. It provides a wonderful moment between the bride and groom while also allowing for some great and emotional photographs to be taken.
Once all the formal photographs were taken, it was time for the actual wedding ceremony. Elise's father walked her down the aisle but then presented her to her grandfather. This is because Elise's father conducted the ceremony. Acting on behalf of her father, Elise's grandfather gave Elise away at the beginning of the ceremony. It made for a lovely touch that included three generations of a family. The ceremony itself was equally lovely as Elise and Neil's wedding party looked on while Elise's dad married the happy couple inside the quaint confines of Christ Church.
After the wedding, Elise and Neil were met by a horse drawn carriage to talk them around the area of the church before their grand entrance at the reception. Once they made their entrance, the newlyweds had their first dance, enjoyed a toast, and cut the lovely cakes made by Sweet Magnolia. Neil's groom's cake had a Batman theme, which I was a big fan of seeing and photographing. The rest of the reception was a great party as Jeremy McFall of Jamm Entertainment provided the DJ services and the great crew at DIFP provided the cinematography services. It was a blast working with all the vendors to provide Elise and Neil a great wedding day experience. The night was capped off with a sparkler exit as Elise and Neil left to go on their honeymoon to North Carolina.
Working with Elise and Neil, along with their friends and family, was a great experience, and I'd like to thank them all for having DSmithImages Wedding Photography, Portraits, and Events out to document the big day. I'd also like to thank the fine people at Christ Church and the earlier mentioned vendors for being great to work with on this wedding. I encourage you all to check them out if you need their services.
