Sterling Castle Wedding Photography with Brittany and Artravius!

Birmingham Alabama Wedding Photography

December is a beautiful month for wedding, and I had the pleasure of closing out 2015 by photographing a gorgeous ceremony at the Sterling Castle in Shelby, Alabama. I had never been to the venue before, but I was immediately blow away by the picturesque grounds and facilities and the warm hospitality shown by the owners. I immediately knew the day was going to go well when I arrived because of the welcoming atmosphere.

The wedding featured the union of Brittany and Artravius, a fantastic young couple who were an absolute delight to photograph. They were incredibly laid back and relaxed throughout the day, and that made for an equally laid back and relaxed shoot.

With their friends and family members surrounding them, Brittany and Artravius were allowed to enjoy all the little details that made up their wedding day. The two spent time with their respective bridesmaids and groomsmen before the ceremony, reflecting on past times and looking forward to the future ahead. A couple highlights of the day before the ceremony took place were Brittany showing off her custom made bridal bouquet along with giving Artravius a special gift of tickets to see Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers play the Memphis Grizzlies. Needless to say, Artravius was rather touched by the gift.

Once everyone was in their attire for the ceremony, it was time to show off and do the pre-wedding formals with a backdrop of the beautiful main Sterling Castle building. I've had a lot of great backdrops to use before, but this one immediately became one of my favorites. It just added so much to the atmosphere of the photographs. Brittany even took some time to do photos in the lovely interior of the Sterling Castle's main building.

Once the formals were done, it was time to for the big moment where Brittany and Artravius became a married couple. In front of friends and family and set among the backdrop of a lovely pond the property, Brittany and Artravius said their vows. The couple also included a "lock ceremony", which was something I hadn't seen done before. The Sterling Castle does it at all their weddings, and it symbolizes endless love as the couple puts their lock on a gate and throw the key into the pond. It complemented the overall ceremony quite nicely.

With vows said and Brittany and Artravius married, it was then time to have a good time at the reception. The Sterling Castle had a great reception space on the grounds, and it was decorated beautifully for the party. The newlyweds partied well into the night with their guests until it was time to say goodbye with a sparkler exit.

I'd like to wish Brittany and Artravius nothing but the best in their future as a couple. I sincerely thank them for having me photograph their wedding. I'd also like to thank the wonderful team at the Sterling Castle, Misty, Victor, and the rest of the staff, for providing such a fantastic venue, not only for Brittany and Artravius to have their wedding, but for me to work and help provide their memories. The other great vendors that worked on this wedding include Bayles Catering & Take Out, DJShell.com, Indulge Sweet Shoppe, and Decor to Adore. I invite you all to check out what they have to offer!
