I've mentioned it here before, but I love how wedding photography affords me the opportunity to travel. I did just that the weekend of April 30th, 2016 when I headed to The High Hampton Inn in Cashiers, North Carolina for the wedding of Virginia and Hill. Both are dear friends, and I was honored their families asked me to make the trip to document the big weekend. In addition to the wedding, I was able to photograph the bridal luncheon and rehearsal dinner.
Today, though, we're just going to look at the wedding and how great a venue The High Hampton Inn was for the both of them.
It was opening weekend at The High Hampton Inn, and the location was bustling with activity. Nestled in the mountains of western North Carolina, the venue is a historic vacation getaway. Virginia and her family has been going there since she was a little kid so it made for a great spot to host her wedding. The location also provides a gorgeous view of the on site lake and the mountains in the distance.
For the most part, the weather was absolutely gorgeous throughout the weekend. I say "for the most part" because, unfortunately, a rainstorm came through the area right at the time of the wedding ceremony. An audible had to be called to switch the actual service to a local church. Even though it meant losing such a great backdrop for the wedding, everything went off without a hitch and bride and groom were happy.
That's the most important thing to remember. As long as the bride and groom are happy, everything else is good to go.
We did make our way back to The High Hampton Inn after the wedding ceremony so everyone could enjoy the reception. The venue went all out in making sure everyone had a great time, ate a great meal, and enjoyed each other's company.
Everyone danced well into the night and didn't let the rain from earlier in the day get them down. It was all about celebrating the union of Virginia and Hill and wishing them the best for their future.
I'd like to thank Virginia, Hill, and their families for inviting me to photograph this wedding. It was a great experience. I'd also like to thank my parents, who made the trip with me and navigated us down the mountain a couple of times late at night. I do appreciate it. I'd also like to wish Virginia and Hill nothing but the best in their future together.
Enjoy the photos from this lovely wedding. Remember to check out The High Hampton Inn if you're in the market for a destination wedding and are thinking about the gorgeous mountains of western North Carolina. Also remember DSmithImages Wedding Photography, Portraits, and Events will travel anywhere to document a wedding so keep that in mind when you're looking for a wedding photographer
