Saturday, March 10th was a beautiful day for DSmithImages Wedding Photography, Portraits, and Events to photograph a wedding in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I headed down to the Druid City that day to document the nuptials for two dear friends, Elizabeth and Erik. You might recall their engagement session photos and the sneak preview of their wedding photos I posted recently. I am pleased to announce that it is now time to share even more photos from their beautiful wedding day.
Erik and Elizabeth's wedding day spanned three different locations, which provided three unique and interesting backdrops. The first location was the lovely University Club just down the road from the campus of The University of Alabama. The happy couple was allowed to do their first look and wedding party photos on the grounds of The University Club, and it provided just the most picturesque setting. Elizabeth and Erik made use of the classically decorated interiors along with the spacious and warm exteriors to produce just a dynamic combination. The setting of The University Club really accented the classic and vintage look both Elizabeth and Erik employed with their wedding day wardrobe. It also provided a great compliment to their bright and spring like wedding colors. I really can't say enough good things about how this location turned out for their wedding photos. Their first look photos were just so beautiful and full of emotion.
Once we finished at The University Club, everyone headed over to Grace Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa for more photos and the eventual wedding ceremony. Elizabeth and Erik wanted to make use of the church grounds, especially the quaint little garden and patio area near the sanctuary. The brick work of the church building also added to the subtle vintage feel of the wedding day, and, as you can see, it also produced the lead image for this wedding day recap.
When we finished with all the photographs, it was time for Elizabeth and Erik to tie the knot, literally. The couple included a Celtic knot tying ceremony into their full wedding ceremony, and it was a lovely addition an already lovely celebration. Once the knot was tied and the rings exchanged, Elizabeth and Erik were married in front of many happy family members and friends.
It was then time to party at the reception space on the grounds of Grace Presbyterian Church. The space was beautifully decorated and lit by Jennifer Fuqua, who also served as Elizabeth and Erik's wedding coordinator and planner. She was assisted at the reception by Scot Wedgeworth, who did all the floral design work, Marvin's Catering, Publix, who provided the bride's cake, and Chris Marie Cobb, who designed the Batman themed groom's cake. Elizabeth and Erik's good friend Kit served as the DJ for the night and kept the dance music going throughout the evening.
Elizabeth and Erik eventually made an illuminated exit from Grace Presbyterian Church, but the wedding day fun was not quite over. Everyone soon headed to Egan's Bar for the official wedding after-party. More dancing and celebrating took place as Elizabeth, Erik, and their friends celebrated well into the night to cap off what was just a top-notch day.
I'd like to extend just a huge word of thanks to Elizabeth and Erik for having me photograph their wedding day. It was an honor to provide such a service to the happy couple. I'd also like to thank the fine folks at The University Club, Grace Presbyterian Church, and Egans' Bar for providing great backdrops for Elizabeth and Erik's wedding day. A word of thanks also needs to go out to Jennifer Fuqua for organizing and coordinating everything, including all the great vendors that contributed to this wedding. Please check out what they can offer.
