Fall in Alabama can be a beautiful time of the year, and Tannehill State Park in the town of McCalla is one of those places where the season really shines. It's also a perfect spot to do fall engagement photography, and I had the opportunity to do just that on October 22nd, 2016.
I went to Tannehill late that afternoon to meet up with Madison and Trent. They are a lovely young couple who I'll also be photographing in March of 2017 when they tie the knot. They picked Tannehill for its natural beauty and the numerous locations that could be used for a portrait session.
As the sun started its descent, we made use of as much of the park as we could. The lighting was perfect at that time of the day, but there wasn't a moment to waste. We all wanted to get as much done as possible before the sun finally set.
The session started towards the back end of Tannehill. That is where the old mill work, rock walls, and even a cabin provide for great decor. I had done a session at Tannehill before so I knew where all the good spots were located.
The shoot then moved to the central interior of Tannehill. Madison and Trent took their time to stroll around the numerous crafts buildings located in the park. The structures complimented the look and feel of the early pictures we took.
Finally, when the sun was just right, the session came to end near the creek that runs through Tannehill. The light was perfect and provided a wonderful exclamation point to the entire session.
Now the session couldn't have gone as well as it did without two great subjects to photograph. Madison and Trent were amazing to work with throughout the afternoon, and I can't wait to work with them again on their wedding day in March. I know it's going to be a fantastic and lovely day for the both of them.
