Wedding season for DSmithImages continued on May 6th as I headed up to Lake Guntersville State Park in Guntersville, Alabama to photograph the gorgeous and stylish wedding for Meghan and Luke. I have known Meghan through mutual friends in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and I was quite happy when she asked me to be the photographer for her and Luke's big day. Both the bride and groom made the shoot an incredibly laid back and relaxed affair set against a beautiful lakeside backdrop. The early May weather also contributed to a dreamy and inviting feel to the entire day.
Meghan and Luke both showed out in incredibly modern yet stylish wedding attire. Luke's suit blended well with the seasonal aspect of the wedding and the outdoor setting. Meghan's dress featured a beautiful design and color scheme in the upper portion while the lower portion flowed elegantly in a storybook like fashion. These style choices were complimented nicely by the skeleton theme Meghan and Luke used to decorate other aspects of the wedding. Luke wore a skull themed boutonniere that looked quite fantastic. Instead of cake, the couple had wedding pies and one was also decorated with a bride skeleton and a groom skeleton.
The bride and groom also made use of the beautiful grounds at Lake Guntersville State Park and the gorgeous main lodge facility. Their first reveal and bridal party photos were done overlooking the lake while a lot of the family formal photos were done inside the lodge to show off the beautiful wooden staircase that was available. That location provided a nice bit of contrast and variety in relation to the photos that were done outside with the lake in the background.
When the time came for the ceremony, Meghan and Luke said their vows with beautiful Lake Guntersville behind them just as the sun was close to setting. Meghan's brother served as the officiant to make it a true family celebration. Even though rain was coming into the area, it held off just in time for the ceremony to go off without a hitch. Once the couple walked down the aisle as newlyweds, it was then time to party. Meghan and Luke celebrated and danced well into the night with friends and family as everyone enjoyed the party that was the wedding reception. The happy couple then capped the evening with a grand exit accented by glow sticks that added beautiful color to the Lake Guntersville night.
I'd like to thank Meghan, Luke, and their families for having me serve as the wedding photographer for this wonderful celebration. It was an absolute blast and pleasure to be able to document all the great memories of this day in such a beautiful location.
