DSmithImages Wedding Photography, Portraits, and Events continued its 2019 wedding season with an absolutely stunning celebration on April 20th. That is when I had the pleasure of driving up to Lake Guntersville State Park in Guntersville, Alabama to photograph the wedding of Liz and Toffer. You might remember Liz from her bridal portraits, which were featured on this site earlier. That was a beautiful shoot, and the wedding day just continued the trend.
Liz and Toffer had a wedding that was close to their hearts and personalities. Lots of little touches, such as an ample number of books, library check-out cards for place settings, a “Kiki’s Delivery Service” themed cake topper, and University of Alabama shakers, all made up the decor of this wedding. There was also a strong vintage touch throughout the day. Liz’s wedding dress had a 1930’s vibe, as did her wedding day jewelry and shawl. All the elements came together wonderfully on the day of the wedding.
I’ve photographed a number of weddings at Lake Guntersville State Park over the years, and it’s rapidly becoming one of my favorite spots to document a celebration. Even though it was a cool and rainy morning, the area looked wonderful and vibrant by the time we started doing Liz and Toffer’s first look. The lush greenery of Lake Guntersville, along with the lake itself, made for a stellar backdrop. The Lake Guntersville Lodge, especially at sunset where the sky looked to be on fire in the best way possible, also made for a killer location to use.
After their wedding celebration, which took place at sunset and overlooking the lake, Liz and Toffer had ample time to party and celebrate with their friends. They kicked things off with a first dance, courtesy of music by Talking Heads. Everyone then came together to enjoy the delicious food prepared by the staff at Lake Guntersville State Park. It was a top notch way to close out a top notch day celebrating a top notch couple.
I want to thank Liz and Tofer so much for having DSmithImages Wedding Photography, Portraits, and Events out to photograph their wedding day. I wish them nothing but the best in their future together.
