The weather in Birmingham, Alabama on the morning of March 2nd didn’t seem like it’d cooperate with an engagement session, but, thankfully, that wasn’t the case. I say that because I was able to do a wonderful session with Erica and Aaron at both Oak Mountain State Park and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The happy couple will be getting married in Tuscaloosa in May, but they decided on a couple of scenic Birmingham locations for their engagement photos. I was happy to oblige, and I was even happier that the weather made for a lovely late winter day in Alabama.
The session started at Oak Mountain State Park as Erica and Aaron wanted to include their two dogs in at least one of part of the engagement session. Their four legged friends had a wonderful time running around and playing in the park while we took photos in the day use area. Once the dogs finished their part of the engagement session, Erica and Aaron were visited by some more four legged friends once we took a few photos at the park’s demonstration farm. Some friendly goats came up to the gate and happily became part of the session.
The final part of the session took place at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, a location I know quite well. To change things up a bit, Erica and Aaron wanted to use some locations I didn’t photograph on a normal basis so we made our way to the Japanese gardens. The conditions of the day made the area perfect to photograph and really provided a great backdrop. That can also be said about the entire location of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Even in the late winter and before the spring blooming season, the gardens make for a lovely engagement session location.
The entire day was just a blast, and I so enjoyed working with Erica and Aaron on this engagement session. I know their wedding day in May will be absolutely gorgeous as well. I’m definitely looking forward to documenting all the special moments of that day!
